It’s hard to find activewear that will accommodate outdoors people as their bodies change postpartum. Shortly before I had Aster, Kojo reached out to me about a merino wool breastfeeding shirt that was created by a mom in Slovakia and recently was brought into Canada by a team member. I was so excited to try it out as I had never heard of anything like it before.
This shirt was gifted to me, but all thoughts are my own and this review is not sponsored.
In short, I wore this shirt on every single hike, night at camp, and adventure for that first year of her life. I truly loved it.
Functionality
If you haven’t heard of them before, they are a shirt with essentially a horizontal flap of fabric at rib height that you can pull up and move another piece of fabric (and your bra) aside to expose your breast for feeding or pumping. No more pulling your shirt all the way and exposing your stomach in the cold!
Fit
There is a sizing guide on the website which is handy to take a look at. I did end up sizing up as I found their sizing to run a bit small (merino is supposed to fit next to skin), but I could have gone up two sizes I think. Especially newly postpartum.
Comfort
The shirts are so soft and really well made with nice seams and the material is flexible and thick. I slept in mine a lot camping because it made those middle of the nights feeds so easy and it kept me toasty warm.
Final Thoughts
I would highly recommend this to any new breastfeeding or pumping parent. It was so nice to have quality activewear that was technical enough to keep up with me during my favourite activities but also designed well enough to make my life (and my babies) life easier. After a year plus of heavy heavy use, the shirt has held up so well! You can’t even tell that I wore it that much, if at all. And to be honest, even though my breastfeeding days have since passed, I still wear this shirt on adventures as it really high quality merino and so comfortable.
